Each year, Johnson County Conservation pushes to restore more areas to our native tallgrass prairie, and volunteers can play a big role in that project! Hand-harvesting prairie seed is fun, easy, and very rewarding! This fall, Volunteer Lois Albrecht will lead a weekly prairie seed harvest event. Volunteers will meet at the Conservation Education Center, but seed collecting will take place at various locations within Kent Park. Wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves, and closed-toe shoes, and bring a water bottle. This activity is ideal for active senior citizens or any adults wishing to help. Families are also welcome. To register, please call 319-645- 1011 or email fowen@co.johnson.ia.us
