Description:

This field day will begin with a visit to a newly seeded plot of pollinator habitat.   Next, we will visit existing plots in their 2nd and 4th year since planting.  Local wildlife biologists will be speaking about establishment and proper maintenance, i.e., mowing, spraying, and the signs that indicate a healthy stand of native forbs and grasses. We will end our field day by returning to The Grainery and eating a meal provided by Nichol’s Smokin’ BBQ while the local NRCS and FSA staff answers any other questions the group has.

We will be meeting at The Grainery in Cherokee, IA at 9:00 a.m., which is located at 1969  500th St., Cherokee, IA, 51012.

Directions from downtown Cherokee are as follows: Head East on Main Street out of Cherokee. Drive 2.9 miles and turn left onto T Ave. Go 3 miles North on T Ave and turn left onto 500th. The destination will be immediately on the right.

· Transportation will be provided between field visits
· Dress in comfortable clothing that you don’t mind wearing out in the field
